What is missing?
If you have been working in IT for such a long time, you probably know that this all is not really new. What many don’t know is that teenage Bill Gates started his IT career as a “devops engineer” writing and managing code on mainframes. In these times, companies had to write their own code because nobody would sell it to them. Dev and ops were just the same thing. Then Micro-Soft (as it was spelled at that time) created the software market and dev and ops were separated.
In the cloud, we have now the same situation as previously on mainframes. Companies like Netflix had to write their own code because nobody would sell them the software needed for a streaming company and devops was born. But as more streaming companies pop up, it is only a matter of time until someone will offer this kind software on the market and even Netflix might then separate dev and ops once again simply because it is cheaper to automate by buying software instead of “manually” writing all the code by yourself.
Of course, many new fascinating technologies have been invented since the mainframe era, IaC being one of them. Thus, if you don’t already live in a nursing home, suffering from dementia, I recommend staying involved simply because it is more fun to code than feeding ducks and waisting time on Netflix. Being retired is really no excuse.

When speaking of Infrastructure of Code (IaC) tooling, most people think of Terraform. Terraform is a popular choice by many companies, but there is now a strong competitor called Pulumi. Founded in 2017, Pulumi is a modern, universal way to implement IaC. Pulumi allows you to build your infrastructure using familiar languages, tools, and engineering practices.

The latest version of the GitLab CI/CD platform added a range of monitoring and visualization capabilities to the core platform.Michael Pietroforte replied to the topic Site performance improvements in Community Forum 2 days, 9 hours ago
Actually, this was bug I added when I changed the code the other day. The news updates should work again now.
Thanks for the hint!

You mean the wysiwyg editor? I removed the plugin because it impacted performance. If I find a plugin that performs better, I will install it.

SecretsManagement module for PowerShell: Save passwords in PowerShell 2 weeks, 2 days ago
Cameron,
I ended up writing extensively about customizing your PowerShell command prompt at my site. The reason for this is that the post is very detailed and longer than the posts we usually do on 4sysops. If you would like to know more check out my article here:

PowerShell script to display information about Active Directory users 2 weeks, 2 days ago
Hi Gokul,
The tool in this article does not accept pipeline input because i did not include the parameter to do so. This required to be able to pass a list to the function. Take a look at my website https://www.commandline.ninja . I'll write up a newer version of this tool on my site this week.
Michael Pietroforte replied to the topic How to type in HPE ILO if keyboard layout is non-US? in IT Administration Forum 3 weeks, 6 days ago
If I remember right, you have to specify the keyboard layout when you install the server, but I guess the real problem is ILO here. You probably won’t have a problem logon physically with different keyboards.
So if you have physical access, you can logon and then change the keyboard layout.
I never tried this, but perhaps you can connect to the server via PowerShell remoting and then change the keyboard layout.

The return of the dialog should be the folder path. If you want the file, you need the FileBrowserDialog instead (almost exactly the same and it returns the full file path). Does that answer the question?
