      Hi Michael,

seems that notifications for subsequent comments and likes in blog posts are not popping up. Or are those working only if a registerred member comments/ likes?

Leos, like notifications only work if you receive a like from a member. The notification system is only for member-member communication. If someone posts a comment on one of your blog post you will receive an email.

Understood. One more thing – wasnt the notification deleted if you clicked on it? I click on your notification about new reply, get to the post, but the notification is still shining.

Usually they are marked read. If they are not, you can reload the page or hover with the mouse over your avatar in the top menu and remove the notification from there.

Reload does not help. Yeah I know I can remove them manually, I just think they were used to go away automatically if you clicked on it from the hover 🙂 no big deal.

      Michael,

recently I was missing few notifications from a Forum topic that I replied to. Do I understand correctly that anytime I reply to a forum topic, I should be automatically subscribed?

Its strange because in this topic, I can see “Notify me on follow up replies via email” checkbox. But on other topics, where I have already replied, or not yet replied, I cant see the checkbox.

      For example:

      https://4sysops.com/groups/powershell/forum/topic/parsing-nested-html-tables-by-powershell/

      https://4sysops.com/groups/powershell/forum/topic/powershell-script-required-to-automate-sending-of-emails-with-expired-passwords/

Is it because I have set All emails in Powershell group? Then it would be weird I did not get notifications for the email-expired passwords topic.

      Cheers

The PowerShell group notification is a different system and not related to the forum notification.

The checkbox Notify me of follow-up replies via email is enabled by default when you reply to a topic. At the top of each topic you can find a button that allows  you to subscribe / unsubscribe.

You can also see all forums and topics that you subscribed to in your profile, if you click the Forum icon.

I think I see the issue now. The Subscribe button is missing in all Powershell forums. It is present in other forums.

But your last screenshot shows the checkbox?

Can you also send a screenshot of the top of the topic. There should be a subscribe / unsubscribe button.

I can’t replicate your issue with an account that the same the rights like yours. Maybe there is a maximum number of subscriptions. Can you try to delete some subscriptions and see if the button reappears?

I have 41 subsciptions, removed one. Button is not present in Powershell forums. It is present in IT Admin forum and Community forum and was present there even before removing the 1 subscription.

        You can see it normally?

Yes, the subscription button shows on all topics in the PowerShell forum. Did you delete a subscription in the PowerShell forum? Do you have any subscriptions in the PowerShell forum? Can you see the subscription for this topic?

Maybe you have an issue in your browser with JavaScript. You can try another browser and clear local cache.

Just tried with Edge that I never used before for 4sysops. The button is not present.

In my subscriptions I can only see that I am subscribed to Powershell Forum as a whole. But I dont see a single topic from Powershell forum in my list. For the other 2 forums its fine.

There has to be a sort of a bug. If I click on the blue unsubscribe button next to Powerhsell Forum on my profile, the page gets reloaded, but the forum is still there.

It seems there is an interference between the “Powershell group notification system” and “Forum subscription system”.

If my Powershell group notifications are set to “All Email” I cannot see the Subscribe/Unsubscribe buttton in the Powershell Forum. But when I set “No email” notifications, the button is back! And its also back on every single thread in the forum.

Note – after setting the option to No email I had to refresh the page for the button to appear.

You are right, if group email notification is set to All Email, the topic subscribe / unsubscribe button disappears. Great that you figured it out! I will post this in the plugins’s forum. In the meantime, you can change group notifications to daily.

What is your email notification level for Powershell group? You can see in my images that its missing when All email is set.

both in Chrome/Edge its the same

Hmm, it could also be a feature and not a bug. The thing is that if you set Group notifications to All Mail, you would receive forum notifications twice, right?

I am not sure how the plugin is written. But the real thing is – when I have All email set, I am getting notification that a topic was created. But then I dont get any further notifications on replies to topics (even when I replied there). Example is the topic with password expiry check, as linked above.

I would say so. For the topic https://4sysops.com/groups/powershell/forum/topic/powershell-script-required-to-automate-sending-of-emails-with-expired-passwords/

I got notification that it was created. But I did not get any notification for further replies, even after I have replied to the topic.

Hehe no, its not really in the spam. I just got notification for a reply that was placed a minute ago at https://4sysops.com/archives/how-to-build-an-interactive-menu-with-powershell/

But my settings are now Daily Digest and I have active Subsribe button in Powershell forum. I can switch back to All email and you can try to reply there.

And yes, the subscription button is missing, but I think this is a feature. It doesn’t make sense to subscribe to the forum if you receive all notifications anyway through the group notification.
