It appears Microsoft recognized that it can’t compete on its own with Amazon’s cloud. The new Cloud OS Network which is a “worldwide consortium of more than 25 cloud service providers delivering services built on the Microsoft Cloud Platform: Windows Server with Hyper-V, System Center and the Windows Azure Pack,” is a step into right direction.
Microsoft also teamed up with Dell to compete with Amazon.
OpenStack, the open source cloud computing platform, gained some traction by receiving support from Dell, Red Hat and Oracle.
