Chris Sirrat from the Windows Virtualization Team Blog announced the release of System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), Microsoft's new centralized management tool for Virtual Server. As I write this, there only is a complete installation as a VHD (Virtual Hard Disk) available for download. A 120-day trial version is probably coming soon.

You should have a fast Internet connection if you want to download the five rar files because they add up to 3 GB. Virtualization.info lists SCVMM's most interesting features. The tight integration with Configuration Manager, Operations Manager, and Data Protection Manager sounds quite interesting.
I was surprised that the next version, SCVMM R2, will also support VMware and Xen. According to Sirrat, it should be available once Windows Server Virtualization (WSV) is released.
