There were a lot of announcements at the Microsoft Management Summit 2007 (MMS). I just summarized the most interesting ones:
- If an EC2 Reserved Instance is not applied or used - Thu, Jan 20 2022
- Midnight Commander remote connect via Shell link (copy files over SSH) and SFTP link using FISH and public key authentication - Mon, Jan 17 2022
- Root login via SSH and SFTP on EC2 instances running Linux - Wed, Jan 12 2022
System Center Operations Manager 2007 will be released on April 1th, officially. I blogged about the Operation Manager two days ago. The RTM can be downloaded already now.
System Center Configuration Manager 2007 (formerly Systems Management Server v4) is to be released this summer. Intel client management technology vPro (the thin client killer) will be available as an add-on.
I expected the release of Systems Management Server 2003 SP3 to be announced at the MMS, but it will probably take two or three weeks more.
Beta2 of System Center Data Protection Manager v2 will be available in the next 30 days. I hoped Microsoft would release the final soon. But it seems, there still is long way to go.
System Center Virtual Manager Beta 2 is planned to be released within the next 45 days.
The first Beta of System Center Service Manager should be released in the next 30 days. I'm already quite curious about this one.

Well, it seems that the whole System Center product family is still a big "beta project". I suppose that Microsoft originally planned to have it all ready for the MMS. I really wonder why the cover title of the latest Windows IT Pro issue is "System Center Launches". There certainly will be a couple of further issues until System Center is done.
