DABCC has a list of 50 ways to speed up Vista. Some of the tips there are quite useful, if you want to improve the performance of your Vista machine.

It won't surprise you probably that the number one tip is to add more memory. The tips 2-4 are about ReadyBoost. I tried this new Vista feature, but it didn't improve the performance at all on a system that didn't have enough RAM. Most USB sticks are simply too slow. But there are much faster sticks are available now. So it might be worth another try.

Some of the tips are not just about improving the performance of a Vista machine, but about speeding up your work. There are some tips like putting shortcuts on your desktop, which are not really spectacular. However, some of them are helpful, for example putting the Run Dialog on the Windows taskbar.
