Ed Bott reports that Microsoft Canada accidentally published the prices for Windows Vista. Microsoft already removed the prices, but you still can check them out in his blog. The prices are in Canadian Dollar.

Ed suggests not converting the prices using the current exchange rates. However, he calculated the U.S. prices of Vista based on the current Canadian and U.S. prices of Windows XP. If this is all correct, then the price raise are moderate, he says. Windows Vista Ultimate would be about US$349 and Windows Vista Business US$269.

The business edition seems to be cheaper than XP Professional which is a good news for companies. However, if you want the “digital entertainment features” and the “business features” then you need the Ultimate edition which costs 70 Canadian dollars more than XP Pro. And 349 U.S. dollars for an operating system is quite a lot in my view. Thus, I don’t think that the price increase is so moderate.
