You have a point there. But why not just the Win key (without R)? I think you can save a few key strokes if you use "Start Search" to launch programs.

The difference is that Win-R winword works on _every_ machine that has Microsoft Office installed.

So that's a big advantage to me. Of course if you only use your laptop, office computer and home computer, this will not offer any advantages to you.

Hmm I wonder how you can be faster with typing the program name. Don't you think a mouse click is faster? I also use keyboard shortcuts for a few apps. However, this method doesn't work if you use many different apps every day. I think the Win7 Taskbar is not made for this.

Well, i have an entirely different style of working than you do and so far i have to say the superbar works very well with it.

Half of the time, i'm not sitting in front of my own computer, but someone elses. So i got used to launching all applications through the only way that works on every computer: Win-R, and then the application name. It even works for calling MMC-Plugins, control panels, etc.

What i liked about the new superbar is that i could actually bind applications to numbers. So instead of using Alt-Tab and then the mouse, i can use Win-1 to reach Outlook, Win-2 to reach putty, etc.

I have to say, the Win-R trick allows me to work at speed and without wasting time looking for shortcuts on any machine i'm using. It works on every version of Windows and finding the app you need works the same way. IMO a great and under appreciated feature.
