PropertiesPlus is a simple, free tool that integrates itself in the Windows Explorer. It allows you to modify file attributes, extensions and time stamps of multiple files with an easy-to-use GUI. You start PropertiesPlus from a folder’s context menu in the Windows Explorer. The tool can be configured to perform changes on all subfolders of its selected directory. It seems that its programmer has stopped developing it since it’s not on his homepage. You can download PropertiesPlus from several sites, though.

Hi Michael! I came across PropertiesPlus because I have multiple audio files that I want to modify. I use an MP3 player to listen to books, and many times the track information, as burned on the CD before ripping is only sequenced for the individual CD itself. When you rip and transport these files to an MP3 device, they don’t always sinc-up, so the play list is shuffled strangely.
I think your program is really great, and I was just wondering if you might make any modifications in the future? I would really be happy seeing the “Track” information for audio files modifiable, so I could do something like re-file them from say, Track 01 to Track 56. Right now I have to do it manually.
Cheers!
Michael
I have used this program for years from the days of Windows 95 all the way up to Windows XP in 2010 however, this utility does not work on Windows 7 64-bit and I miss it dearly. It was great for maintaining the date information of pictures you have to modify such as cropping but do not want to loose the original date. I also used it for releasing programs by setting the timestamp on all the files to match the version number of the program…very handy. I have yet to find such a useful substitute.
PropertiesPlus is one of my most useful, favorite, and easy to use utilities. It’s one of those features you’ld think would be included with Windows.
This, as listed, does not work on 64-bit verison of Windows. The only way around this is to run the program in a VM and access the files/folders whose properties you are trying to change.
I really wish the person who created this progra would release a 64-bit version of it. Don’t think it requires more than just exporting it as a 64-bit application.
I just e-mailed the developer of this program asking him for a 64-bit version. If I hear anything, I’ll post it here and other software websites. Let’s hope he agrees. Here’s his current website, it mentions nothing of the program. It only mentions his current one: CopyTo Synchronizer Free, which synchs 2 folders – looks very useful, have to play around with it.
I also missed Properties Plus for the Win7 x64 environment, and found another free replacement: “Attribute Changer” at [http://www.petges.lu/product/features/]. Same functionality from the context menu.
