I also used the “long route” before. The problem with Virtual Server’s mount tool is that it doesn’t work with some VHDs such as Vista or Windows 7 system backups.

Thank you so much for posting. I was looking for such a tool yesterday, and I was going to take the long route i.e I was going to install MS Virtual server! Thank you for the great blog.
