There are many tools that allow you to get an overview of the disk space occupied by your company’s user. Most of them, however, are commercial products. Folder Size Shell Extension is a free and simple tool that extends Windows Explorer’s folder properties with a new tab. It displays a folder’s subfolders in a hierarchical tree showing the space that each folder occupies. Folder Size Shell Extension was originally developed for NT, but it still works with Windows 2003.

I have used Folder Shell Extension for about 5 years and really like having the ability to easily see how large various folders and subfolders are.
I have recently converted the Windows XP Pro X64 Bit and Folder Shell Extension no longer works (:!
Is there something I need to do differently? Are there any plans to update the program to run on 64 bit OS?
Thank you.
Folder size will never work on Vista and later. That’s the saddest part.
please make this work on windows x64 platform …. i have been using this since almost 7 years not that i am shifting to windows 7 x64 which is amazingly good but i cannot use this software
Yes, I too have been installing this first thing on every computer for many years. Now I have Windows 7 and am crying without fileSizeShell. :’( *sniff*
I Will post back if I find an alternative — when I get myself together. *sniff sniff*
I’m back with a smile on my face!

works wonderfully out of the box with Windows 7 and actually processes the folder size layout faster than foldersizeshell utility. Lots of other googdies too. Almost too many but I’ll deal.
All this does, of course, is point up why we should all be using Mac OS, which has been doing this right out of the box for a decade or more with no chicken dances, Google searches, hacks, registry tweaks or dll downloads needed. I’m now on my second hour of how to replicate this included mac feature on Server 2008. If only I could bill Microsoft for all the time I’ve wasted researching how to work with, or fix, their products.
Really great and irreplaceable shell extension! It helped me many times in cleaning my HDD.
